Two harbours and a pine headland.
Ἑρμιόνη· Ermioni ·
Ermioni sits on a narrow peninsula that ends in the Bisti, a pine-covered headland that walks straight out into clear water — the town gathered along two harbours, one busy with fishing boats, the other quiet enough for a swim.
It is an old place. Ancient Hermione was a town of some standing in classical times, and fragments of that past still surface among the modern streets and chapels for anyone who looks.
Life here is gentle: a seafront of tavernas and cafés, a shaded coastal path that loops the pine forest of the Bisti, and easy boat connections to Hydra and the other Saronic islands when the mood for a crossing strikes.
About a 10-minute drive from the villa and the nearest of these outings, Ermioni is the unforced, everyday Greece of long lunches and evening strolls — the pines, the sea, and very little to hurry for.
